AAQS incorporates mapping software as a tool for analyzing and presenting air quality modeling and monitoring data. Mapping lends itself particularly well to air quality modeling analyses and affords numerous advantages to standard database or contouring software. AAQS uses mapping techniques to perform the following:
- § Determine land use for air quality modeling purposes using census population density data.
- § Identify and contour hills for CTSCREEN and CTDMPLUS modeling studies.
- § Display and overlay CALPUFF wind fields on 3-dimensional topographic maps.
- § Overlay pollutant deposition results on land use maps for human health
- risk assessments.
- § Identify odor corridors and potential sources of odors.
